TikTok-famous toucan gets rescued by Arlington Co. firefighters

A TikTok-famous toucan was rescued by Arlington County Virginia firefighters after getting stuck in a tight space inside his home over the holiday weekend In what the Arlington County Fire Department described as an unique rescue firefighters were called to get the exotic bird out from behind an appliance Sunday Thanks to the quick and careful work of our firefighters Chester was safely rescued without any injuries the fire department wrote in a social media post Not your typical call for T excellent job by all involved In a post to Chester the Toucan s followers on TikTok Maria Stagliano explained she called firefighters for help retrieving her pet after he got wedged underneath the cabinets in her kitchen It all started when Chester fell into Stagliano s toilet the pet owner noted In a rush to wash the toucan clean he escaped after bath time and went through a hole by the dishwasher that led to a dead space That s where he remained as Stagliano worked to get backup Stagliano commented firefighters arrived within minutes of her call for help and freed Chester a chestnut-eared aracari toucan View this post on Instagram A post shared by Maria Stagliano Chester the Toucan chester the toucan How Chester became famous Stagliano first met Chester several years ago I went to this bird store in Falls Church four years ago because I was sad It was during COVID and I just really like birds she stated WTOP She was just expecting to meet several parrots but she met an unexpected friend Chester was the only toucan in the store at the time and the store s owner was trying to find him a new home Stagliano declined at first but revealed herself returning to the store to be with him He was very settled with me petting him And the next thing I know I could not imagine my life without Chester she revealed Chester with Stagliano s help is now an internet celebrity But that was never her intention behind creating Chester s social media accounts I made them because my family was so annoying with how often they required me to send them a video of Chester she declared She started sharing snippets of her life with Chester and then one video changed everything There was one time that after I had learned more about Chester and about toucans and about his breed I realized that he makes this honking noise when he s happy she noted So I had made this little compilation that basically declared Do you know that toucans honk when they re happy And it exhibited a bunch of his different little honks he made and that one went viral And I mean honestly the rest is history WTOP s Abigail Constantino contributed to this overview Source
